This fantastic competition aims to raise disability awareness among primary school children and give them a greater understanding of what unites children of differing abilities. Someone Like Me allows children to learn about and discuss these topics and creatively express what they’ve learned through art.
What Can We Learn?
- Encourages children to consider other people and other people’s feelings
• Builds an awareness of making assumptions about people
• Promotes inclusiveness
• Highlights the similarities and differences between people
• Encourages children to think about treating others the way that they like to be treated.
The senior room won the overall County Prize for their creation “A-Maze-ing Disability ” with the help of Rebecca & Caoimhe who were in the school on placement at the time.
