Seashore Safari ?????

The senior classes visited Derrynane Beach today for a Seashore Safari as part of the Explorers Education Programme.

The Explorers Education Programme is supported by the Marine Institute and is funded under the Marine Research Programme by the Irish Government.

It was organized  with Lucy & Christie from Sea Synergy in Waterville. We could not have asked for a more beautiful September day in such an amazing place. Pupils took part in lots of activities including rock pooling, sand castle competitions & mini games etc. Christie was absolutely fantastic with the children and kept them all interested and on task during the day . She was also very well prepared for a cold rain shower that surprised us !

The Seashore Safari module involves one full day visit from an Explorers education officer on the seashore.  The seashore visit includes an exploration of marine habitats and living things as well as interactive learning games on the shore. What a gem of a habitat on our doorstep….
